Rebreathers are one of the most talked about subjects in the diving realm today. Rebreathers have been around for hundreds of years prior to the creation of open circuit diving. Rebreathers are cool looking double-hosed systems that are always sure to turn a head or two no matter where you go.
Rebreathers allow divers to remove the carbon dioxide from our exhaled breathing gas. Humans only use about 8% of the oxygen in our exhaled gas. This means a diver can carry a smaller tanks and stay as long or longer than an open circuit diver. Another benefit is that the rebreather produces a small amount or no bubbles while underwater. This is one of the biggest advantages to divers, as it allows for intimate encounters with various marine animals. Although more expensive than open circuit diving gear, rebreathers offer a unique ability to explore deeper, further and longer than a basic diving system allows.
Buckeye Diving School is proud to offer one of the most popular rebreathers on the market , The Dräger Semi Closed Rebreather. Our course consists of one three hour classroom session, a dive in the pool to gain some basic skills necessary to go to the open waters and four open water dives.
We have 2 rebreathers and can accommodate up to two students at a time. Each of our systems have onboard oxygen sensors to ensure our students safety. Our rental fees include bail-out tank systems, oxygen sensors and nitrox fills.
Buckeye Diving School is an authorized reseller for Dräger rebreathers. We are here for you when you are ready to purchase your own Dräger Dolphin rebreather.
